According to Punch, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, while speaking with journalists last Saturday, asked Nigerians to hold the Peoples Democratic Party responsible for the ongoing fuel scarcity across the country. He further said the PDP destroyed Nigeria during its 16-year rule. In his words:
“We want to stay focused and redirect Nigeria. We want to reverse the decay of 16 years. We are hearing comments from the PDP left and right. We are saying we want to clear the mess they created. For 16 good years, the PDP destroyed the country. We should not be lamenting over petrol queues today if they had seen what was necessary and done what was necessary for this country.”

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers said on Sunday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win Saturday’s re-run legislative elections in the state because it prepared for it. Wike told newsmen in Port Harcourt that when the elections of the legislators were annulled in December, the party commenced preparations for re-run. Sen. Ali-Modu Sheriff on Monday in Abuja assumed office as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and decried calls for his resignation by PDP Rescue Group. Sheriff, in an interview with newsmen after he took over, said he was not going to resign his appointment as the chairman of the party.
“The leadership of this party in their wisdom asked me to lead. If the National Executive Council (NEC) of this party collectively asks me to leave, I will leave. I will reposition this party and take it to election within a time frame decided by the leaders of this party to conduct a credible, effective congress that will stand the test of time,” he said.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Tuesday, expressed deep concern that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), needs prayers. His statement may not be unconnected to reports that the party’s caucus chose former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, as its acting national chairman, pending when the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), will ratify his appointment. A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital has ordered the State Commissioner of Police to arrest of former State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Temitope Aluko over alleged perjury. According to Voice of America, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from some of its members who are being tried for corruption. The PDP said further that it cannot take responsibility for the charges against the accused persons, which include spokesman, Olisa Metuh and former Board of Trustees Chairman, Tony Anenih. There is money allocated to purchase arms to fight Boko Haram, which is an act of the National Assembly, and then instead of the money to be used properly, there is an allegation by EFCC that out of this money Olisa Metuh has collected 400 million naira, our former PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Tony Anenih has collected 252 million naira.
