Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s 72-year-old uncle, Mr. Inegite Jonathan, who was allegedly kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, in Bayelsa state, has been released. A spokesperson for the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident, said:
“The victim has been released and reunited with his family but I am yet to get the detail.”
Speaking recently at the press centre of the Circle Diplomatic in Geneva, former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, rubbished claims that his administration negotiated with fake Boko Haram terrorists. In his words:
“We did not negotiate with fake Boko Haram. I agree that within that period, especially whenever there was a problem, people volunteered all manner of assistance. It is just like what, my successor, President Buhari said in a recent media chat that if his government gets credible leaders of the sect, they would be willing to discuss with them.”
There is a fresh allegation that the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Peter Fayose got a whopping $37m from ex-president Goodluck Jonathan to rig the election that brought him into power. The allegation surfaced after the secretary of the Ekiti state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr.Temitope Aluko testified before the military panel that investigated the role of the military in the 2014 Ekiti election. Jonathan stated this on his Facebook page after being honoured with the President’s Award by an African-American civil rights organisation based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
“By this award, I am further inspired to continue to work for the advancement of democracy, peace and progress in Nigeria and Africa.”
