Justice Adeniyi Ademola of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday ordered the Federal Government to produce the immediate-past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), in court on February 16. According to Voice of America, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from some of its members who are being tried for corruption. The PDP said further that it cannot take responsibility for the charges against the accused persons, which include spokesman, Olisa Metuh and former Board of Trustees Chairman, Tony Anenih. The comments were made by the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Abdullahi Jalo.
“Let us call a spade a spade. There is money allocated to purchase arms to fight Boko Haram, which is an act of the National Assembly, and then instead of the money to be used properly, there is an allegation by EFCC that out of this money Olisa Metuh has collected 400 million naira, our former PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Tony Anenih has collected 252 million naira. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has denied PDP spokesperson Olisa Metuh is being witch-hunted. The anti-graft agency revealed Metuh’s continued detention is due to his unwillingness to admit and return the ‘over N400 million’ he allegedly received from embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. Speaking during a meeting with online media publishers in Lagos, the acting EFCC chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu explained:
”From the records, Metuh got over N400 million, he has not said anything because we need the public money to be returned so that it’s going to be used for public good”
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and National Leader of the Social Democratic Party, Chief Olu Falae, has said the N100m he collected from a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, was fully remitted to his party. Continue reading →
