President Buhari Lauds Lawmakers For Passing 2016 budget

At a press briefing in Abuja Sen. Ita Enang, the special adviser to the president in the Senate, described the process of passing a bill into a law as expeditious and laudable. He further praised all the lawmakers for working hard to ensure the passage of the carefully-crafted budget. He said:

“I followed the entire process and I have seen the industry that has been exhibited by the senators. National Assembly To Pass 2016 Budget March 17

The Joint Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives on Appropriations on Wednesday assured Nigerians that the N6.08tn for this year budget would be passed on March 17, 2016. The committees stated that the final report on the appropriation bill would be laid on the floor of both chambers of the National Assembly on March 16 for consideration and subsequent passage the following day. Both panels had earlier said that the February 25 date for the passage of the budget was no longer realistic due to errors and padding. President Buhari Wants To Withdraw 2016 Budget

President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded an official letter addressed to Bukola Saraki, the Senate president, and Yakubu Dogara, the speaker of the House of Representatives, asking for adjustments of the 2016 budget. According to Thisday, after presenting the 2016 budget to the NASS President Buhari had discovered that some of the figures proposed were incredibly high. They were widely discussed by Nigerians and in press, with the emphasis that the new administration is no different from Goodluck Jonathan’s team.

Therefore, the figures for the office of the president, vice president, and a few ministries, are reportedly subject to a review in the first place.
