EFCC Quizzes Tom Ikimi Over $2.1bn Arms Fraud

According to Saharareporters, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former minister of foreign affairs and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tom Ikimi,  over his alleged role in the $2.1bn arms fund mismanagement. Ikimi was said to have been quizzed by the EFCC operatives for over two days and only allowed to go home each day after interrogation because of his health.

A source at the Commission told the online medium that Ikimi was involved in the $2.1billion arms funds scandal and hence his present predicament. Efforts made to confirm the story from the EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, proved abortive as calls made to his phone did not get through at press time.

You will recall that Ikimi defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC)  to support former President Goodluck Jonathan bid for a second term while Jonathan lost the decisive presidential election to President Muhammadu Buhari.
